About JIOS Radio
Jesus Is Our Savior Radio / Streaming 24/7 Worldwide / Upbeat Contemporary Christian, Rap, Rock & Dubstep / Youth, Young Adult, & Young At Heart 70% of youth and young adults drop out of church, according to statistics from a variety of sources. While many return later in life, there is still cause for concern. Most youth and young adults interviewed stated that they didn't reject the church or intentionally leave, but that "they simply lose track of the church and stop seeing it as important to their life." According to Lifeway Research, these 4 factors helped determine which youth and young adults stayed in church: * I wanted the church to help guide my decisions in everyday life (prior to 18). * My parents were still married to each other and both attended church (prior to 18). * The pastor's sermons were relevant to my life (prior to 18). * At least one adult from church made a significant investment in me personally and spiritually (between 15 and 18). According to Modern Reformation Magazine, these are three things that we need to be a positive example and reduce dropouts: "1. Disciple, disciple, disciple. - If your student ministry is a four-year holding tank with pizza, don't expect young adults to stick around. If, however, they see biblical teaching as relevant and see the church as essential to their decisions, they stay." Music has the potential to be either a bad or good influence on youth and young adults. Have you listened to the lyrics of some of the current popular music? JIOS Radio provides upbeat, Christian music in the genres that youth and young adults listen to. If they have access to positive, Christian music and devotionals 24/7, instead of just the one hour exposure during church on Sunday, they are able to build a more personal relationship with Christ. "2. Have a home with committed Christian parents - I was raised by a single mom who loved the Lord and I'm so thankful for those who do, but parents (together) make a significant statistical impact." Parents, do you really take an active role in the lives of your kids? Do you know what kind of music they are listening to? I challenge you to listen to and read the lyrics of the top 10 songs on the Hot 100 chart. How about the top 10 songs on the Hot Rap Songs chart? Do they know that Christian music, in the style they like, even exists? Be committed to your youth and young adults. Don't let secular media take over for you as a parent. Take an active role. Be a good, committed Christian role model. Who knows, you may even like the upbeat, energetic music. Just don't tell them that you love it! "3. Recognize that it takes a church to raise a committed young adult - involve other adults in the discipleship process. This is where student pastors, volunteers, and other adults being invested in the lives of teenagers can be so important." It still holds true, it does take a village.... As a station focused on youth, young adults and the young at heart, we want youth and young adults involved. We want their input. We want to know what they want to hear. As a 501c3 nonprofit, there are many opportunities to volunteer - the music committee, website development, social media, promotions, etc... This provides an excellent opportunity to learn life skills, volunteer hours with a charity, and provide an opportunity to take an active role in building something that they enjoy.
