Harrison Ford
He is an adventurous world-traveler overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles with a grin and a wry comment. The roles he plays in movies – like the recent Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – sometimes do the same.
You may think you know Harrison Ford, but did you know:
- A Central American ant called Pheidole harrisonfordi was discovered by world-famous scientist and author E.O. Wilson and named in honor of Ford's environmental leadership.
- He was given the Global Environmental Citizen Award by Harvard Medical School.
- He personally piloted a chopper in the jungles of Venezuela with Conservation International.
- He has helped guide the vital climate and forest protection work of Conservation International for more than 15 years as an active member of their Board of Directors.
Harrison Ford has been an integral part of
Conservation International's work for more than 15 years. He celebrated Earth Day while on location to film a public service announcement for CI's upcoming climate change campaign that focuses on the critical issue of stopping deforestation – one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to significantly reduce global carbon emissions.
