Dylan Mahalingam
Change Agent Dylan Mahalingam is a 13-year-old CEO who founded Lil' MDGs in 2004. Based out of New Hampshire, his organization's global reach mobilizes youth to make a positive impact on reaching the Millennium Development Goals.
Dylan leverages the power of the Internet to educate, engage, inspire, and empower youth in all corners of the world to work together to meet the Millennium Development Goals. He believes inspiring young people to help achieve the eight MDGs—which range from halving extreme poverty to stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS by the target date of 2015—is vital to meeting its goals.
Dylan’s accomplishments are impressive. Lil' MDGs, to date, have mobilized children from 31 states in America and 34 countries to report $780,000 million for tsunami relief and over 10 million for hurricane relief. ?He’s collaborated with children from 12 countries and is working with the UN Development Program. So far, they raised funds and resources to build a dormitory for a school in Tibet; a computer center, library, and a mobile hospital in India; school supplies for students in many countries; and a playground for a school serving AIDS orphans in Uganda.
In addition to these great feats, Dylan continues to work toward helping youth realize their potential and aiding them in their success. He also continues to tell his story on Changents.com.
