David Archuleta and Rising Star Outreach

David Archuleta

Singer and American Idol Finalist David Archuleta has used his fame to draw attention to a number of important causes including Rising Star Outreach, DoSomething.org, and Invisible Children.

Through YouTube video messages and encouraging support on his fan forums, David has raised a significant amount of donations and awareness for Rising Star outreach, a non-profit organization which works to defeat leprosy and help people in leprosy colonies become thriving, self-sufficient individuals. David Archuletta fan support has raised over $15,000 to provide a new sewage system and dental projects for a suffering community with a goal of raising $20,000 in additional funds for a new school.

Archuletta is also teaming up with Do Something.org, along with the Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation, to help willing teenagers make a difference in others' lives with disaster relief.

"I know as well as anyone that teenagers have the power to do something. So I'm genuinely excited about this cause and organization," says David. "When I heard about the opportunity to get involved with DoSomething.org, I jumped at the chance. Thanks to this program, when a disaster strikes, teens will be part of the relief solution."

The program will help teens take action with ideas and guides, as well as a weekly $500 grant program to help them start their own programs and a Disaster Relief Bootcamp for teen leaders running disaster relief projects.

In May 2009, David was chosen as a celebrity ambassador for Stand up 2 Cancer, lending his efforts and time to help raise funds for cancer research.
