Wanda Colon - The Susan G Komen Foundation
Wanda Colon is the host of TLC’s Home Made Simple. She also just produced and starred in an award willing short film entitled “Falt”. This filmmaker, actress and host is incredibly busy, but says that giving back is an important part of her every day life. We had a chance to sit down with her and ask her why:
GS: First off, who do you GoodSearch for?
WC: The Susan G Komen Foundation
GS: Why is that cause close to your heart?
WC: My mother is a breast cancer survivor. She is such an amazing person and she has always taken care of everyone in her life so, it was crazy to see her so vulnerable. She is still really young and this is something nobody expected. When she was diagnosed, it really hit home. The support that she and my entire family got from both organizations and the hospital was so incredible that I want to help others in the same situation.
GS: Why have you found that giving back in your every day life is important to you?
WC: You work so hard in your life and life goes a certain way and then suddenly something like this happens. It reminds you that all of those things are trivial things and there’s something even bigger out there. It’s important for me to be able to say to people who either have breast cancer or are close to someone who has been diagnosed that I’ve been through this and I know what it’s like. If I can give back in any way, here I am.
