Jim "Soni" Sonefeld of Hootie & The Blowfish
As the drummer of Hootie & The Blowfish, Soni has had a great opportunity to spread the word about the Animal Mission, a nonprofit supporting the City of Columbia Animal Shelter as well as other animal organizations. He’s releasing a new album called Snowman Melting in the spring.
We caught up with Soni to hear about the work he does on behalf of animals.
GoodSearch: Why do you support the Animal Mission?
Soni: We have a problem in Columbia, as they do in most cities, with unwanted pets and there is an answer called spaying and neutering. I personally can’t stand that there’s a senseless amount of animals created and our tax dollars are used to euthanize them. That is a reality. And, it doesn’t have to be that way. So, we’re out snipping and clipping our hearts out to get pet owners to do the responsible thing.
GoodSearch: How has being part of Hootie and the Blowfish helped you spread the word?
Soni: The notoriety I’ve received with the band has pushed me into recognizing that I have a gift and a tool that I can use to inspire people. There are so many needs in our society – whether it’s caring for animals or caring for people. People need to do their part. People can actively change lives if they just put their mind to it.
GoodSearch: How can using GoodSearch help causes?
Soni: You are doing what I’m doing. You’re helping bring awareness to causes and letting people know that not only is there a need here, but there is a solution.
