Description
The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world. The Topeka Young Women’s Christian Association was founded November 19, 1887 by a group of Topeka women wanting “to work for young Women. . .in a systematic way.”
Our mission to eliminate racism and empower women. We provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress.
Women come to our Battered Womens Task Force in times of crisis, as survivors of rape or domestic violence. They come to our Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program for education and support. They come to our Career Assistance Network for job training and career counseling. They come to our Early Learning Center for childcare. They come to our fitness facility for health and fitness. They come for a variety of reasons and leave with a renewed spirit, new skills, and stronger lives.
