Description

The YWCA of Salem is one of the oldest social service agencies in the community. Over the past 92 years, the YWCA of Salem has been proactive in addressing the unmet needs of the most vulnerable in this community.

The mission of the YWCA of Salem is to provide services to improve the lives of women, girls and their families, to empower women to make positive changes for themselves and to eliminate racism in the community.

Area and Populations Served: YWCA of Salem serves women and families in Marion and Polk Counties in programs that include the following:
•Teen Parent Childcare Program
•Youth & Teen Programs
•Programs for Families Experiencing Divorce
•Transitional Housing and Case Management for Homeless Families
•Resource Assistance
•Interpreting and Translating
•Breast Cancer Education and Screening Referral

The YWCA’s Salem Outreach Shelter (SOS) is the only long-term transitional shelter for homeless families in Salem.
