Established in 1906, York Hospital has been part of the fabric of the southern Maine community for over a century. The hospital’s success is based on one simple tenet: provide patients and their families with the highest quality, most sensitive and compassionate medical care. Today, York Hospital is a thriving, fiscally responsible, non-profit, state-of-the-art medical facility. In 2007, York Hospital cared for 5,754 patients on an inpatient basis and outpatient encounters totaled 141,272. York Hospital also works in partnership with several tertiary medical centers in New England to offer innovative new programs such as the Telestroke program which links, via video, doctors at York Hospital with the renowned stroke neurology team at Mass General Hospital in Boston to care for stroke patients. Through its affiliation with Beth Israel Hospital’s clinical trial program, York Hospital patients can access state-of-the-art clinical trials for cancer patients.
