Description
The Haven is a Teen Room located behind the County YMCA. This is a supervised safe haven where teenagers can go to unwind, hangout on the couches, do homework, and play foosball, ping pong, or other such games. It is a place where Teenagers can be teenagers, and where they can feel understood and treated like human beings without being lectured, yelled at, or hurt in any way. Erie County, PA is comprised of 14 boroughs, 22 townships, and two cities (from "Directions, II Guide to understanding the well being of children and families in Erie County, PA). We are reaching out to their community, along with the many other communities, to invite teenagers to the Haven. There are currently SO MANY negative statistics concerning our teenagers. They are at a stage in their life where either go uphill or downhill. We want to help GIVE them the opportunity to go uphill.
