Description
Youth and Government is an exciting and demanding educational and leadership program engaging 2,600 youth in 80 delegations across the state. The program begins each fall as teens meet to discuss issues facing California. During the next few months, delegates write bills, select governmental positions to role-play, attend statewide training conferences, and run for various elected offices. The program culminates in Sacramento at the State Capitol with the convening of the five day Model Legislature and Court (ML/C) each February. There, the "real" government moves over and the student delegates "take over," using the historic halls, chambers, and offices of our State Capitol, Board of Equalization building, Supreme Court, and Governor's Office.
