The Yellowstone Park Foundation works in cooperation with the National Park Service to fund projects and programs that protect, preserve, and enhance the natural and cultural resources and the visitor experience of Yellowstone National Park. The Yellowstone Park Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was established in 1996 by a group of concerned citizens. The Foundation receives no annual government funding but relies on private support to fund initiatives that are beyond the financial capacity of the National Park Service. Since the Foundation’s creation, approximately 14,000 individuals, foundations, and corporations have committed over $40 million dollars to support more than 140 projects and programs that benefit Yellowstone.
