Description
Founded in 1965, the World Monuments Fund (WMF) is dedicated to the preservation of imperiled works of art and architecture worldwide through fieldwork, advocacy, grant making, education, and training. Based in New York City, with offices in the United Kingdom and France and affiliates in Portugal, and Spain, WMF has a forty-year record of responsible conservation and management at more than 400 sites in 80 countries. WMF works with local communities to save their endangered architectural treasures, including the shotgun houses of the American Gulf Coast, the archeological sites of war-torn Iraq, abandoned synagogues of Eastern Europe, and the vast temple complexes at Angkor, Cambodia.
