Description
The Workers’ Rights Center (WRC) is a 501(c)(3) that provides workplace rights education, advocacy and referrals to workers in South Central Wisconsin. Volunteer advocates perform intakes and provide clients with legal information about local, state and federal employment law. Advocates assist in mediating disputes and claims and provide guidance in filing complaints with local, state and federal Agencies. The WRC holds periodic training sessions on issues of employment law for community members, service providers, and community organizations. The WRC also seeks to identify areas where the law or government enforcement agencies fall short and to advocate for strengthening worker rights and protections. The goal has been to identify problem employers, inadequate laws, ineffective government agencies and opportunities to assist workers in building power and self-organization.
