    about

My name is Heather Murphy and I am the founder and executive director of the Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative or WEI (weicreatechange.org). As a student at Arizona State University I am currently trying to raise $20,000 for a project in India working with widows to help them become social entrepreneurs. Our mission is to encourage social entrepreneurship among women by providing grants and low interest microloans in the aftermath of social epidemics. The low interest loans we provide will empower individuals and organizations worldwide through the encouragement of social entrepreneurism. We plan to create new jobs that are needed, wanted, and encouraged by the surrounding community. With these jobs WEI will alleviate current debt and break the cycle of debt inheritance passed on through generations. Ultimately this will minimize social epidemics that arise from debt inheritance such as suicide, fleeing the country, and violent protests.
