Description
The Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District is a 501(c)(3) environmental non-profit organization based in Vermont. Our mission is: to ensure the wise use, protection, and enhancement of Vermont's natural resources through the use of local initiatives, education and partnerships; to foster public awareness and appreciation for the value and need for the natural resource conservation; and to advance the understanding that we all are stewards of the living earth.
Our programs focus largely on sustainable agriculture, watershed stewardship, urban conservation, and education and outreach. For example, this summer we held a Rain Garden Contest, to encourage residents to reduce stormwater runoff on their property; worked with local high school students to paint rain barrels and distribute them in the local community; and implemented various stream restoration projects in Vermont communities.
