Description
Weston Rehabilitation Associates, Inc. provides paid employment and on-site rehabilitation services to women in transition from jail and/or drug treatment. The program maintains an overall environment centered on recovery, personal growth, and movement toward taking one’s place in society. Since 99% of program participants are addicts in recovery for a relatively short time, the primary need is establishing a solid base for ongoing recovery. In addition, there are competing needs that are difficult to rank in importance – income gained through legal means, housing, education, reunification with children, training in parenting, establishing healthy relationships, resolution of the long-term problems which led them initially to drugs, opportunity to fill in developmental deficits such as establishing personal values – to name some of them. Weston employs these women 32 hours per week, beginning at minimum wage, as soon as they are released from incarceration or treatment.
