Wesley Shelter provides shelter and a comprehensive support network for domestic violence victims and their children, homeless women and their children, child abuse victims, sexual assault victims and displaced homemakers. In 2005, the agency was the beneficiary 6,210 volunteer hours. Case management, parenting classes, therapy, support groups, victim’s advocacy and The Women’s Center for Life Management are available to adults. Children’s programs include: child care, support groups, therapy, after-school, evening and summer programs. Proceeds from the agency’s resale stores are used to support agency programs. The stores are run with donations of new and gently used clothing and accessories. Wesley Shelter program participants receive vouchers to shop for what they need with dignity yet free of charge. Wesley Shelter’s mission is to end violence and build healthy, self-sufficient families. 2500 women and 2672 children were served in 2005 through the agency’s various programs.
