Wernle Children’s Home, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1879 by the Lutheran synods of Indiana and Ohio. Wernle is a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Wernle provides comprehensive treatment in a residential setting to boys ranging in ages from six to twenty-one. All of the children at Wernle have been the victim of some type of domestic violence, such as physical abuse, neglect, or sexual abuse.
