The We Care Program provides shelter services for 34 homeless men a night during the worst part of the winter. These individuals are ineligible for assistance from any other social service agency. The shelter operates between December 1st and March 31st.
The We Care Shelter provides a hot meal and a warm, safe environment for individuals who would otherwise be sleeping on the street during the cold winter months. During the 2010/2011 shelter season the We Care Program served 135 unduplicated individuals and provided 3,874 shelter nights. Our agency is instrumental in reducing the impact on our community’s municipal and healthcare services. The We Care Program is also a plus for the business community in that we offer the homeless a place to sleep other than in their doorways.
Our agency currently offers onsite referrals for services including, but not limited to, drug and alcohol cessation programs, transitional housing, essential services, and literacy training.
