Description
Since 1965, Washington Performing Arts Society (WPAS) has transformed the cultural life of our nation’s capital and metropolitan region by bringing the world’s greatest artists to the broadest possible audiences by commissioning and promoting new repertoire for music and dance; and by forming partnerships with local artists, arts organizations, schools, embassies, and universities.
Each year, WPAS’ presentation of internationally acclaimed and emerging artists in classical music, jazz, gospel, modern dance, and world music, and its educational and outreach programs inspire, engage, and enrich the lives of nearly 200,000 individuals.
WPAS sponsors residencies, discussions, workshops, master classes, and 500 free performances in 330 public, charter, and parochial schools throughout the region. Programs include: Concerts In Schools, serving D.C. and suburban public schools; Embassy Adoption Program; and Children of the Gospel Program.
