Private non-profit, chartered in July 1964 as part of President Lyndon Johnson's War On Poverty. The agency, located in Western North Carolina serves low-income, elderly and disabled residents of Watauga, Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties through self-sufficiency programs which include the entire family.
