Description
The Drumline is a Brownsville, Brooklyn based program that teaches children, ages 9 and up, to play drums in the African-American Marching Band tradition and also how to read music. These children also learn discipline, teamwork and the value of practice and preparation.
The program started in March 2003, and in a short period of time, these children have made remarkable strides in their drumming abilities. They have already performed at local shows and led the Vulcan Society up Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard in the annual African-American Day Parade in Harlem. With the continued effort of the Vulcan Society and your support, this program will have a bright and successful future.
