Description
VMC was established in 1987 and provides a day time transitional setting for those who are seeking a permanent residence of their own through the VMC Resource Center. Additionally, VMC offers a crisis counseling program called The Refuge which places an emphasis on helping the marginally housed maintain their housing. Dental services are offered onsite with primary care and mental health services provided by Cherokee Health Systems. VMC also owns Minvilla Manor, a 57 unit rent subsidized apartment facility. Over the years, VMC shifted to a case management model and focuses on housing and reintegration, VMC works to end homelessness. The mission of the Volunteer Ministry Center is to facilitate permanent supportive housing for those who are homeless and to provide services to prevent homelessness.
