Description
The mission of the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona is to strengthen communities by mobilizing people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems. The Center was founded in 1965 to meet the growing demand by nonprofit organizations for volunteers to augment their services. In the years since its inception, the Center has become a nationally recognized leader in effectively engaging volunteers in roles with direct impact on community problems. The Center directly engages young people and adults in programs that better the community and encourage life-long involvement in volunteer activities. It also supports hundreds of other nonprofits by continually helping them build their capacity to provide quality programs, through mobilizing, referring, training, and honoring volunteers, and by providing training and technical assistance to their staffs and boards.
