Description
The Virginia Children's Chorus, founded in 1992, is an independent children’s chorus with students ages 6 to 18 from all around Hampton Roads. This program is designed to develop both musical sensitivity and choral skills by placing equal emphasis on two components of singing: education and performance. Our students come from all the cities in Hampton Roads and from all socio-economic backgrounds. The Virginia Children's Chorus primary mission is to enrich the lives of participating children through the study and performance of the world’s great choral literature. Tuition assistance scholarships are available to those demonstrating sufficient economic need.
Singers at any level are invited to audition. Auditions are held three times a year, in January, June and August. Acceptance into the chorus is based on a child’s ability to hear and match pitches with their voice, overall vocal quality, level of maturity and readiness to make a yearlong commitment to the Chorus.
