Description
The Viola Startzman Free Clinic (VSFC) in Wooster, Ohio provides free health and dental services to low-income uninsured residents of Wayne County. In existence since 1995, the VSFC is named for founder Viola Startzman MD, Wayne County's first female pediatrician and a longtime Medical Director of the College of Wooster. Dr. Startzman is still an active member of the Board.
The VSFC's Mission Statement, in effect since the day the Clinic opened, is "The VSFC will provide, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect, acute and preventative health care, as well as education, referrals, and patient advocacy to adults and children of Wayne County who may need free services and have no means to pay for care. The Clinic will work with existing healthcare resources in the county to avoid service duplication and to initiate appropriate consolidation."
