Description
Established in 1976, VIBS’ mission is to assist survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault recover from their victimization, raise community awareness and prevent the incidence of these crimes through education and outreach, and advocate for societal changes directed towards arresting the growth of these crimes. Agency services include: crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, legal and social advocacy, and community education and outreach services. VIBS offers specialized programs for children, adolescents, the elderly and perpetrators of domestic violence, administers the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners program (SANE) and is the State designated rape crisis center for Suffolk County. Each year our agency provides services to thousands of individuals whose lives are affected by these crimes of violence.
