Description

VINS was founded in 1972 by a group of citizens concerned for the health of the Ottauquechee River and the forest surrounding it. This group believes that informed citizens make positive choices to protect the natural environment. This credo became VINS’ mission, To protect our natural heritage through education and research designed to engage individuals and communities in the active care of their environment.

To achieve our mission, VINS’ work focuses on three objectives:1.Education-school-based programs designed for children in pre-school through 12th grade and informal education for all ages on-site and at outreach areas;2.Wildlife Services-free, professional care of wild injured birds brought to VINS by a network of volunteer rescuers and treated by VINS’ licensed rehabilitators for release back to the wild;3.Environmental Research-fellowship programs for undergraduate students that support field research in conservation, biological, and ecological sciences.
