Description
A 501-3(c) private non-profit organization dedicated to conserving native wildlife and their habitats in Central Coastal California. Started in 1977 by a group of private citizens, VWS has focused on identifying specific action plans that work toward accomplishing the goal of preserving biodiversity. To that end, we have successfully reintroduced locally Bald Eagle, Prairie and Peregrine Falcons to their native home range. Today, VWS supports species recovery, wildlife research, habitat restoration, and conservation education. Current projects include, but are not limited to, the California Condor Reintroduction Program, the Big Sur Ornithology Lab, the Carmel River Avian Monitoring Network, the Natural Science Discovery Camp, and Natural Resources Recruitment.
