Description
Alumni organization for graduates of all Special Education programs within the Chicago Public School System. All members are mild to moderately mentally disabled, many with physical disabilities also. These young adults have no social life, no comraderie after they age out of High School. We provide field trips, parties, participation in meetings, election of officers, help with job referals, filling out applications, making sure that members receive necessary services and if services are lost, we reconnect them to the agencies that provide that kind of help. We put out a bi-annual newsletter and have a induction picnic every Spring after graduation for the new members. We operate out of the pockets of the three founders /board of directors and $18.00 annual dues paid by each member who can afford it. We desperately need to raise funds in this economically depressed time as most of our members can no longer pay their dues. More and more we find it necessary to supply food to members
