About Vanavevhu - Children of the Soil
Vanavevhu is a Chicago based non-profit working with child-headed households in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Most of these children were orphaned as a result of HIV and they are now the primary breadwinners for their families. Vanavevhu provides them tuition support, groceries, health care, and vocational training to empower them as leaders at home and in their community. The vocational training is centered around beekeeping because it provides multiple practical training opportunities such as hive construction, production and sale of honey and candles, and market gardening .
