Habitat homes are built with both volunteer labor and donations of money and materials. Then, these houses are sold to Partner Families at no profit with no-interest loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are then used to build more Habitat houses. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor – sweat equity – into building Habitat houses and working in various support areas. Due to our nondiscriminatory policy, people of all backgrounds, races, and religions, are invited to build houses in partnership with families in need of a decent shelter.
