Description
In the fall of 2001, members of the Saratoga Springs community and the Universal Baptist Church joined together to form a unique, not-for-profit corporation – the Saratoga Springs Universal Preservation Hall LLC – to save the Universal Baptist Church building and to transform it into a performance, meeting, and event venue. When the renovation is complete in 2008, the newly renamed Universal Preservation Hall, will include a 7,000 square foot 700 seat theatre which will be used for theatrical performances, lectures, film festivals, and music concerts of all sorts and a 2800 square foot community room on the first floor that can be used for receptions, meetings, breakout sessions, and smaller events and performances. Although the Hall is a secular organization, the building also includes a separate sanctuary, adjacent to the Community Room, for the Universal Baptist Church’s services and ceremonies. This chapel was completed in 2004 and weekly services are held there now.
