Description
The mission of the Shelby County United Way is to identify, evaluate, and make possible the human service needs in Shelby County. The annual campaign is an community-wide effort to raise funds for human services. The United Way works with 21 member agencies and other non-profits to ensure the needs of the community are met.
Through the process of allocations, board members and community volunteers decide how funding will be distributed after careful evaluation of each service.
In addition to allocating dollars to agencies, the Shelby County United Way has a Special Projects program whereby additional money is given to non-agencies to support innovative programs developed to meet specific needs in the community.
.
The Shelby County United Way also acts as an information and referral service to the community.
