The United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County is in Southeast Virginia - just across the border from North Carolina.
The mission of United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County is to improve lives by mobilizing community resources to create lasting, measurable changes in the conditions that affect us most. We do this by assessing community needs, convening partners, implementing strategies, and measuring results.
Our local United Way has a long, proud history of improving lives. Established in 1922 as the Community Chest, United Way has invested more than $30 million in critical human services, and touched no fewer than 1 of every 3 persons with these services, ranging from health care access to disaster relief, and from family counseling to youth mentoring. Our new approach goes beyond that of being a fund raiser. We are seeking to create and support initiatives that improve our community with a more hands-on model.
