Making Friends, Changing Lives!
SouthCoast COMPEER recruits, trains and matches volunteers in friendly relationaships with people being treated for mental illness. Volunteers serve as positive role models, helping to raise the self-esteem, increase social skills, and encourage independence for their Compeer friend, thus promoting healing. A good example of the power of friendship can be found in "The Soloist."
