Transition House is dedicated to the solution of family homelessness in the Santa Barbara community. Homeless families and at-risk households are offered respectful life tools and residential services designed to alleviate poverty and restore self-sufficiency and dignity.
Transition House’s three-stage program has a 70% success rate. Stage 1—Emergency Shelter (90 days) Stage 2—Fire House (6-9 moths) Stage 3—HOMES (low-income housing up to 2 yrs)
Families work with a case manager and are required to set short and long term goals, create a budget, and save money. Families learn money management skills, attend parenting courses and other Adult Education classes.
Transition House’s licensed infant care program is free to all its clients. Schoolchildren participate in evening arts enrichment and literacy programs.
Over the past 29 yrs, more than 10,000 people (including 6,000 children) have lived in our shelter. To learn more about Transition House please visit www.transitionhouse.com
