Educates about toxic chemicals in everyday life and products, & healthier alternatives, through its website, tables at health and environmental fairs, workshops for the public and for health, school and business professionals. Provides free informational materials, sells mission-related books for fundraising. (Does NOT sell products). Responds to inquiries from the public on less toxic living.
Topics: Reducing exposure to environmental triggers of asthma, allergies, learning disabilities, endocrine disruption, cancer. Pesticides, cleaning & fragrance chemicals, other household and personal care products. Healthier options.
Projects: Indoor Environmental Quality Standards (with RI Governor's Comm. on Disabilities); Hispanic Health Education Initiative (working with health orgs. and RI DOH); Less Toxic Landscaping Campaign (publish a resource guide to organic-friendly info, supplies and services); Pesticide-Free Playing Fields Initiative (Helping local schools go organic).
