Description
Time Dollar Tutoring is an elementary after-school tutoring program currently taking place at Chicago Public Schools. Under the direction of site coordinators, seventh and eighth graders tutor fourth and fifth graders who, in turn, tutor first and second graders. The program recruits pupils to tutor peers in a variety of subjects such as math, science, English, and reading.
At the conclusion of the 28-week program, students who each have earned 100 Time Dollars by tutoring or being tutored receive refurbished computers donated by local businesses, organizations and private individuals.
The program has been funded by the Chicago Public Schools since 1995.
