Kelly High School's AVID program is a college preparatory course taken throughout high school. The program targets those who are academically in the middle, low income, and first generation college bound. The students receive weekly tutoring, attend college fieldtrips, learn study skills, time management, and organizational skills. By the time theses students reach their senior year they are expectect to enroll in a more rigorous courseload, including Advanced Placement classes. Our first class is graduating in June 2006. Over 90% of the students have been accepted to a four-year college or university, far exceeding the Chicago Public Schools numbers.
