Description
The Haven, a nationally-accredited group home for boys ages 9-17, is dedicated to providing a safe, loving and stable environment that fosters the development of self-esteem and independence while empowering each young man to reach his full potential. Founded in 1976, The Haven is a group home for adolescent boys, ages 9-17, who have been removed from abusive and neglectful homes and placed in protective care by the State of Florida. The program is licensed to serve 48 boys. The Haven takes seriously its mission to foster each young man's self-esteem and prepare him for independence by midnight on his 18th birthday, when a child must leave care as required by the State's Road to Independence Act. To prepare these young men for adulthood, the program incorporates academic tutoring, recreation and enrichment activities, Life Skills training, transitional living skills, behavior modification and individual clinical therapy and group counseling.
