Description
Texans Care is a state-wide, multi-issue, non-partisan, nonprofit network of individuals and organizations working to improve public policy and programs that serve and protect our state’s children.
In the past 23 years, Texans Care has provided an effective forum for sharing ideas and information related to the care and protection of children, impacting numerous related public policy initiatives, including:
creating the Children’s Trust Fund, increasing funding for Child Protective Services and early intervention services, making child endangerment and abandonment a criminal offense, increasing health care coverage for 1.3 million uninsured Texas children, expanding kindergarten and pre-kindergarten programs statewide together with early literacy programs, such as Head Start. Texans Care remains the only multi-issue children’s advocacy organization dedicated exclusively to the children of Texas.
