Description

The Tenderness Tour is an Indianapolis-based non-profit started by longtime activist Richard Propes, with a strong emphasis on ending violence in the lives of c hildren through education, awareness, fund-raising and support services. The Tenderness Tour began with a 41-day, 1086 mile wheelchair tour throughout Indiana by Propes in 1989 and has become an all-volunteer, grassroots social service organization organizing memorial vigils, workshops, speeches and other presentations to schools, non-profits, churches and city leaders nationwide. On the Tenderness Tour, Propes has now wheeled over 3,000 miles and raised over $200,000 for various children's organizations while reaching thousands of people through his outreach. The organization sponsors the annual "Tenderness Award" recognizing excellence in serving kids and the "Tenderness Trail," an online and living memorial for child victims of violence.
