The mission of Teen Voices is to further social and economic justice by empowering teenage and young adult women. Teen Voices works with Boston area low-income teen girls of color to develop communication and journalism skills and use these skills to reach out to other girls both locally and nationally. Through print and online media they communicate their point-of-view and disperse important information on critical girls’ issues. Teen Voices accomplishes its mission through the core SHOUT! journalism mentoring program, the new Girls LEAD expanded programming, and the print and online magazine Teen Voices, the only national magazine by, for, and about teen girls. Teen Voices has a 15 member adult and teen staff, an 11 member Board, 200 teens in our programs each year, 125 volunteers, and 50,000 readers around the world.
