Description
Teach For America's mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation’s most promising future leaders in the effort. Since the inception of the Phoenix site in 1994, we have grown from 34 corps members in 12 schools to 320 corps members in over 100 schools, impacting nearly 18,000 low-income every day. On average, 89 percent of our students are Latino or African American and 90 percent are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. In Arizona, we have over 600 alumni living and working in all sectors, many of which continue to improve public education and support the work of school districts by bettering conditions in low-income communities. According to our 2015 vision, we are striving to raise the bar for students growing up in low-income communities, build a pipeline of outstanding education leaders who can effect systemic change, build catalytic community partnerships, and foster our growth and sustainability.
