Tarrant Area Food Bank, a private nonprofit founded in 1982, collects and distributes donated food to hunger-relief organizations in Fort Worth and 13 surrounding counties. Tarrant Area Food Bank distributes more than one million pounds of food a month to more than 300 programs serving children, the elderly, the chronically ill, working poor and other people in need. Each month, food from Tarrant Area Food Bank feeds 35,000 households and provides food for more than 500,000 prepared meals and snacks at agencies’ sites. We also sponsor two feeding programs for children—Kids Cafe and BackPacks for Kids, run a culinary job-training program for low-income adults in our Community Kitchen and provide nutrition education for individuals and families receiving food assistance. Counties served are Tarrant, Johnson, Parker, Denton, Wise, Cooke, Palo Pinto, Erath, Hood, Somervell, Hamilton, Bosque and Hill. For more information, visit us at www.tafb.org, or call 817-332-9177.
