Description
The Taos Community Chorus (TCC) is a long-standing tradition in Taos, beginning in 1978. The joy of singing together, making beautiful music, and bringing quality choral music concerts to the community, is what brings the singers together.
Our mission is to provide quality music education and performance opportunities for adults and youth, emphasizing individual growth and expression within our culturally diverse community and thereby enriching the lives of people in North Central New Mexico.
The concert programs are diverse, rich, challenging to learn, and enjoyable to perform. The volunteer choristers come from all parts of Taos County and from many occupations and life experiences. There are no auditions, but singers bring with them the willingness and commitment to perform choral works well. The chorus performs choral music in many genres including: Masterworks & Oratorio; works from cultures around the world in many languages; Opera; sacred, spirituals, jazz, contemporary and traditional choral works.
Forty to fifty women and men, ages 14-83, gather each Monday evening for rehearsal. TCC is a non-profit organization, funded by the singers, ticket sales and individual and business donations. The chorus is also supported in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
