Since its inception in 1996 in Miami Dade County, Take Stock in Children has provided a unique opportunity for low-income and at-risk students to escape the cycle of poverty through education. We have been able to grant $109 million in college scholarships and 1.1 million hours of volunteer mentorship to over 16,000 children. Our High School graduation rate is 42% higher than Florida’s average, and 61% higher than their at-risk peer group. Our college enrollment rate is 45% higher than Florida’s average and almost triple or 189% higher than their at-risk peer group. Take Stock in Children scholars’ college graduation rate is 25% higher than Florida’s average and is a whopping 140% higher than their at-risk peer group!
