Description
Since 1987, the Symphony of the Americas has brought quality orchestral music and music education programming to the citizens of South Florida. With the demise of the Florida Philharmonic, Symphony of the Americas became the only year-round professional orchestra in Broward, employing excellent local musicians and attracting outstanding soloists. During the last 12 months, SOA has performed a six concert series at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, with satellite performances in other South Florida cities. The SOA has served over 10,000 Broward and Palm Beach County elementary, middle, and high school students through its educational programming. SOA's Summerfest exports member of the orchestra to Europe, imports European musicians to Broward for a ten concert tour, and then both groups travel to Central and South America to perform. SOA is funding an strings education program in Panama, including the donation of string instruments for inner-city school students.
